Smart Pages

Engaging Network’s Smart Pages is a new page-building experience that sits alongside our existing flagship product page builder. Where Engaging Networks Page Builder has provided clients with total flexibility and customisation of their pages, Smart Page simplifies and accelerates the process of creating and launching fully optimised out-of-the-box fundraising pages.

Currently, Smart Pages is only available for fundraising pages, and this guide will take you through the two simple steps required to set up your fundraising Smart Pages.

To access smart pages:

  1. Go to pages > smart pages > manage smart pages > and select either My Smart Pages or Settings

FAQS

Payments

Does it cost anything to use Smart Pages?

Smart Pages is free for any client who already has the license for our Fundraising module. If you’d like to add the Fundraising module to gain access to Smart Pages, this would be an added cost.

What gateways and payment types are supported in Smart Pages?

Smart Pages utilizes the Stripe and Paypal One touch (with the secret enabled) payment gateways for payment processing so that you can easily offer the modern payment options your donors expect, such as credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Paypal, and Venmo.

What payment methods are not currently supported by Smart Pages

Bank payment methods (BACS, PDD, SEPA, iDeal), recurring PayPal, and recurring Venmo.

What payment options are available for monthly/recurring gifts?

Right now, monthly giving is only available for credit card payments, but adding additional payment options is on the roadmap, including direct debit and BACS.

Will other payment gateways besides Stripe be available to use with Smart Pages in the future?

No additional gateways are planned at this time.

Features and Customizations

How much customization can be done on Smart Pages?

The layout and template are set and cannot be changed, but you can customize your images, text, fonts, and colors. You can also choose which additional features to enable, like the fee cover, upsell lightbox, monthly gift animation, and more.

Will additional options for social sharing be added to Smart Pages?

Yes, we will expand the social sharing options based on what clients are looking for. Both Instagram and X (Twitter) are on the list.

Are we able to add descriptions to the different giving levels on the form?

Yes! When you are editing your gift amounts, click the ‘Enable impact text’ toggle and you will see the option to add a description for each giving level.

Can the suggested gift amount button color change more distinctly when it is selected?

We have already made an improvement in the next release to make the colored border thicker. At the moment, we do not have plans to allow the amounts to be fully colored in upon selection as this would add another layer of settings needed to also change the color of the label so that it can be visible (for example, if the button turns from white to dark blue, the label then needs to change to white). Adding further settings adds additional complexity to setting up a Smart Page.

I see form abandonment is coming to Smart Pages soon, but will it also be available for Pagebuilder pages?

Yes! We are excited to be able to offer this feature on Pagebuilder fundraising pages as well.

Will you be able to A/B test a Smart Page against a Page Builder page using native EN A/B Test page types?

No, there aren't plans for this at the moment. This is something we'll have to evaluate after Smart Pages is released and we begin to receive feedback. Currently, there are no plans for this; however, you can utilize the A/B testing feature in Marketing Tools to send donors to two different pages via an email.

General Functionality

Are the templates and lightboxes optimized for mobile?

Yes, the templates and lightboxes are fully mobile optimized.

Does Smart Pages support page redirects?

Page redirects from Smart Pages are not supported at this time.

Does Marketing Tools support links to Smart Pages?

Yes. You will select ‘Engaging Networks Smart Page’ as your URL Type and then select your Smart Page from the list of live pages in the drop-down.

What are the ideal minimum image sizes for the images on the donation page and in the thank you email?

For all images, it’s best to go with something that is horizontally-oriented and large. For donation page images, we recommend at least 1920px wide (a standard wide screen monitor). For the thank you email, at least 600px wide. If you are using the Fundraising 1 template, there will be page elements and copy overlaid on top of the image, so keep that in mind when you are making your selection.

Are you able to use Next-Suggested Gift or set up dynamic ask strings based on a donors giving level?

At the moment, no. But this is something we are working to add in the future.

Are you able to select a Smart Page when setting up a Pagebuilder page redirect?

Yes! You can link to a Smart Page from a Pagebuilder page using the redirec tool.

Can the action lightbox be auto-launched when someone lands on my website?

Not currently, but we looking into adding this to our future plans.

What fonts can we use right now and are we able to add additional fonts if our chosen one is not available?

Smart Pages currently uses Google fonts, which has a wide selection of popular fonts. If you have a need for a specific font, please let us know and we can take a look to see if it is one that we can include in the future.

Can you duplicate a Smart Page?

Currently, no, but this is a planned future update. Thankfully, creating a Smart Page is designed to be quick and easy, so creating multiple pages in a short period of time is possible without duplication.

Will Smart Pages be available for use with other page types besides donation pages?

Yes! In future releases, we are planning to add support for pages like petitions and sign up pages. Additional page types are being evaluated.

Can you adjust the opt-in settings at the page level?

Currently, no. All opt-in questions and behavior are selected in the global settings tab.

Where and how do we add tracking IDs to a Smart Page?

You do not need to apply the tracking ID to the page like you do with a Pagebuilder page. You can simply append a custom URL parameter and it will capture the tracking ID upon submission of the page. When you are in Marketing Tools and you are setting up your link, switch the toggle on to ‘Append custom URL parameters’, then “+Add Parameters”, then you can add ea.tracking.id (if it’s not there already). At this point, you’ll enter in the value you want as your tracking ID and click ‘Done’.

Will Smart Pages be available to use for other page types like sign-up pages and petitions?

Not initially. We are starting with fundraising pages and will evaluate an expansion into other page types as development continues. At the top of the list right now are sign-up pages and petitions, but we will be scoping out further work and subsequent pages types after the initial release.

Reporting and Security

How do you pull reports and do data exports for Smart Pages?

You can use Segments and the Report Builder tools for this, or the API. You are not able to pull reports for Smart Pages from the legacy query builder tool at this time.

Are we required to scan each individual Smart Page for PCI compliance?

No. We are not allowing any custom code on a Smart Page, therefore each individual page will not need to be scanned. Engaging Networks will be responsible for scanning one version of each Smart Page layout. However, if you are using the donation page pop-up modal on your organization's website (outside of the Engaging Networks hosted site), you would be responsible for scanning that code when you are fulfilling your website scanning requirements.
